Games Start Next Week
As we begin our 26th year covering High School Football in Tennessee I look back over all those years and I see that many things never change. They include:
- Every team is still unbeaten going into the season and half of them will be defeated next week.
- Coaches are still coaches although they may coach a little differently and call different formations.
- Managers are still unsung heroes.
- No one works harder than the bands and cheerleaders. It is amazing how much time they put in to pleasing you the fan.
- There will always be loud parents in the stands trying to coach the team or screaming at their kids and the officials. I wish it weren’t so,
- There are more players on the field than in any other sport so the development of the team concept is imperative.
- Ultimately there will only be 9 State Champions at the end of the year but everyone else will be winners.
- Friendships will be made that will last forever.
- The memories will never go away.
- In this sport the star player many times is not the most important player. Think about that.
I will always say outside of births these are the best times of your life. Love it, Live it, and make it enjoyable for your kids. Then the memories you make 25 years later will bring a smile to your face.
