Week 2

Williamson County Weekly Recap:

Welcome back to year two of the Williamson County spotlight article here on TN Prep Weekly! Now being an alumnus of Williamson County Schools, I’m excited to put the spotlight on the impressive football being played south of Nashville. To kick off I’ll be recapping notable team performances throughout the county two weeks into the season.

Ravenwood looks like the team to beat in 6A region 6. The Raptors have cruised to early victories over the always daunting Alcoa and trounced a less than impressive Cane Ridge team. What stands out to me with Ravenwood is the favorability of their schedule over the next several weeks. I don’t see the Raptors being tested until week nine when they face Oakland in what should be a must-see heavyweight bout. Props to Ravenwood for taking care of business early and often.

Brentwood looks to be stout coming off a 10-0 season. Brentwood dropped a 16-6 contest with Brentwood Academy last Friday, however that loss doesn’t sour me on the Bruins potential going forward. The Bruins took care of Blackman week one and are at home this Friday against what looks to be a good Hendersonville team. I’ll take the Bruins to win that game. Looking forward, if the Bruins can take care of the Commandos this Friday, I struggle to see them not winning 8 games.

The Page defense is stifling. Through two games the Page Patriots haven’t allowed a point. The 5A region 6 squad looks like they’re ready to make another deep playoff run. Page faces off with Franklin this week, who has given the Patriots some issues early in games. I think Page takes care of business there and has a very positive outlook on an undefeated season. Impressive work so far from the Page Patriots.

The Franklin Admirals break a three-year “Battle of Franklin” losing streak. Franklin’s late game heroics got them into the win column week one against a good Centennial Cougars squad. The Admirals traveled to FRA last week and were outmatched. Things don’t get much easier as the Admirals pay a visit to the aforementioned Page Patriots this Friday. Looking forward, this is a Franklin team that can absolutely make the playoffs. It’s just a question of execution in those difficult region games. Congratulations to the Franklin Admirals on their week one victory, and good luck the rest of the way.
