What a Year! Who would believe that Brentwood Academy would have one win and still make the playoffs. That Maryville would not win a region championship. That Oakland would have two losses. That Lipscomb would be ineligible for the playoffs or that Bradley Central would be the number one ranked team in the state at the end of the regular season. Our final Super 7 poll has four teams from from East Tennessee this year. Could East Tennessee win 6 titles this year? Maybe. Pearl Cohn is the top ranked Middle Tennessee team this year (Surprise, surprise) and undefeated Brentwood is not in the top seven. Maybe Chris was drinking something other than Diet coke when he did this poll.
Wouldn’t you love to see a Brentwood vs CPA game to see who the best team in Williamson County is or McCallie vs Bradley Central in Chattanooga or Germantown vs MUS in Memphis? What happened to the days when you played the best teams you could just so your kids would get better and not worry about winning every game? Now we have teams who should be in 5A or 6A playing in lower classifications just to add to their trophy count.
Oh well, enough of the pipe dreams. It has been a wonderful season. I love it when everything gets shaken up. This playoff year will be one of my favorites. Whose gonna win? If you get all those right Vegas should definitely be in your future.
