There’s no doubt that Williamson County has produced some big time football in recent years,
and after an explosive week 1 it looks like the 2023 season will be just as entertaining as it has
in years past. The first edition of this seasons stock report will explore some of my takeaways
from this past Friday in Willco.

Stock up: Brentwood Offense
With Brentwood as the presumed favorite in the county this season many thought they’d
continue to lean on their physical defense that was extremely effective last year. The questions
with the Bruins were on the offensive side. They took a step toward answering those with a
dominant 38-14 victory over Blackman in the Blazes’ new coach Matt Kriesky’s first game.

Stock up: Nolensville
With major losses all over both the offense and defense, many may have began to count the
Knights out in 5a region 6. With a win over a solid 6a Rockvale team, Nolensville said not so
fast. Their next matchup with Antioch will be one to watch closely to gauge where the Knights
stand going forward.

Stock up: Page offense
This one isn’t much of a surprise. Year in and year out the Page Patriots light up the scoreboard.
They proved they’re still very capable of that in a 35-34 shootout victory against a very
formidable opponent in Giles County. New district opponent Centennial will have their hands full
with the Patriots when the time comes.

Stock down: Franklin Admirals
A promising start in the battle of Franklin went swiftly downhill in the second half, at one point
this game was tied 14-14 and the admirals were in a decent spot to beat the familiar foe in the
Centennial Cougars. But that story changed very quickly as Centennial took it to Franklin in the
second half and without the substantial amount of penalties the Cougars incurred on
themselves would’ve won this football game by a more substantial margin than 34-14. Franklin
now hosts FRA in a game that doesn’t look favorable at this point in time.

Stock stagnant: Ravenwood and Independence

It would be hard to say either of these teams are stock down at this point, both schools had the
task of defeating legendary juggernaut programs in Alcoa and Oakland week 1. It’ll be more
telling to see these 2 teams performance in their week 2 matchups with Page and Cane Ridge
respectively
