The 6A State Championship game featured two undefeated teams and for the first time in Tennessee history two state champs from the previous year met in the Championship game the following year. Oakland, last years 6A Champions met Summit, last years 5A champions. On top of that the game featured a hand full of Power 5 recruits and many other young men who will be playing college football in the future. Oh, what a night!

Both teams have a strong running game, and that’s exactly what we got, an old-school ground and pound running attack the entire game. It was an exciting game to watch for everyone that was there. Summit got the ball first and showed off by with Keaten Wade running the ball for a touchdown from 17 yards out for the first score of the game. Oakland wasted no time scoring by giving the ball to Jordan James and letting him go to work on a 29-yard score. Both teams traded scores once more to tie the game up and then Oakland broke the game open scoring two more times before the half ended and went into the locker room leading 28-14.

This game showcased the excellence of each team as they pushed each other to the limit. Oakland received to start the second half but punted it away. Summit went right downfield and scored cutting the lead to 28-21 but with Oakland answered right back as Antonio Patterson wanted a piece of the action and scored with about a minute left in the third. Summit and Oakland then each exchanged touchdowns once more and the Patriots win 43-26 and now has back-to-back State Titles for the first time in their history.

Oakland’s star running back Jordan James said,” it feels good man, this is how everybody dreams to close out their high school career. But I could not have done it without everybody on the sidelines.” James was named the player of the game and MVP; as he carried the ball 27 times for 234 yards and two touchdowns. Antonio Patterson added three scores for the Patriots.

This game did not disappoint and was the perfect way to end the first ever State Championship weekend held in Chattanooga. Great job Chattanooga!
