Game two of the season was a nail-biter down to the finish as both teams looked to go two and O.  Pearl started the game off with a 12-point lead but, as the game progressed MBA scored 14 unanswered points.  On The Big Red’s first possession they scored and put the firebirds and a tough spot, leading 21 to 12.  The time was running out in the third, Pearl Cohn needed a score.

They drove down the field and scored with about two minutes left in the third.  The fourth quarter was nearly scoreless for both teams until Pearl Cohn scored with under one minute left in the game.  The Firebirds scrapped by with a five-point win.

Big Red’s Quarterback Marcel Reed went 9/15 for 120 yards and one touchdown.  The Firebirds, Bari’on Brown had 14 rushes for 219 yards and one touchdown, he also had six receptions for 66 yards and one touchdown.

MBA Quarterback Marcel Reed said,” I just think we didn’t play disciplined, there were too many turnovers in the red zone, and we have to fix that up next week as we play McCallie who is back-to-back state champions.  We know the competition we are going to get but, today was honestly unacceptable and we just have to bounce back from it.

MBA’s Record is (1-1) as they last on home turf and will be back next Friday against McCallie while (2-0) Pearl Cohn prepares for Hillwood next Friday.
