As Midstate teams now look forward to the playoff season, we here at Prep Weekly are going to go out on a limb and pick our top teams to advance to Cookeville in each classification.  Also, we pick those teams that we think are their biggest competitors. So, take out your pens and pencils, fill out your brackets and tell us where we are wrong. Let’s get serious about football.

Division I

Class One A: Gordonsville is our favorite to go to the championship game and Monterey, Moore County and Fayetteville all have the potential to make it.

Class Two A: Watertown, coming off a great year has the Midstate’s best opportunity to win the Gold Bball while we see Trousdale County, Lewis County and Waverly are strong contenders.

Class Three A: The easy pick here is Pearl Cohn while Fairview, East Nashville and Stewarts County have to potential to spring an upset.

Class Four A:  Tullahoma is our Midstate pick to go all the way, but Springfield, Creek Wood and Marshall County all are strong this year.

Class Five A: Beech is favored for a return trip to Cookeville, but Summit and Henry County have the potential to rain on their parade and find a way to Cookeville.

Class Six A: Oakland is a huge favorite to return to a semifinal matchup with Maryville. However,  Brentwood , Warren County, Ravenwood and Hendersonville all stand in the Patriots way.

Division II,

Class A: Davidson Academy is the huge favorite to hoist another Gold ball. Biggest threats to end their reign are DCA and Nashville Christian.

Class AA: Lipscomb is our favorite here CPA certainly has the talent to beat them. It should be a great matchup when they meet again.

Class AAA: Undefeated Brentwood Academy is our favorite to go to Cookeville, but honestly just about every Midstate team in this division has a chance to upend them. Pope John Paul II was a huge surprise this year.
