This was an unpredictable game in Nashville, with two high scoring teams coming into the match looking to outscore the other. From the kickoff, MBA scored quickly against Brentwood Academy, but that came to a stop. Brentwood Academy stopped the fast-paced MBA team with their strength and height and held The Big Red to only 14 points. To seal the win for The Eagles, they kicked a field goal with under four minutes left in the game to put them up 24-14. MBA was given their second straight loss while Brentwood keeps their undefeated season alive.
The Eagles had the highlights of the game. Quarterback Tayler Montiel was 18/24 for 241 with two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Deuce Scott had 21 carries for 157 and one touchdown while Amir Annoor had seven receptions for 110 yards and one touchdown.
Brentwood Academy head coach Cody White said, “We have a good tradition here with some guys that have played quite a bit of football, and we have some young kids that have slid their way in, like number 40 the running back. But I think the kids have bought in. They had a good summer, and it just works like that. Again, it just kind of feeds itself.”
Brentwood is now (8-0) as they prepare for Whitehaven next Friday while MBA falls to (3-2) and needing a win against Baylor next Friday.
