It’s time for some football and today I will share the games I would really like to go to see this week. These are just personal preferences, and my list includes some great matchups and some great rivalries. Everyone is undefeated and everyone thinks they can win it all.
Tell me which games I missed at phil@prepweekly.com. Let the games begin.
East Tennessee
McCallie @ Chattanooga Christian- Can ever improving Christian compete with the big boys?
Dobbyn’s Bennett @ Farragut- Two traditional 6A powerhouses lock horns.
Morristown East @ Morristown West- The entire county could be at this game.
Jefferson County@ Oak Ridge- These teams are looking to take another step up this year.
Anderson County @ Powell- Two powerhouse playing opening night. We love it.
Greenville @ TN High- Upper East Tennessee will be watching.
Middle Tennessee
Fayetteville @ Upperman- Can Fayetteville step up and compete against an outstanding Upperman team?
CPA @ Brentwood Academy- How many 4- and 5-star athletes can you get on one field?
Smith Co @ Gordonsville- What a tradition. The Smith Co Bowl is always one to watch the first game of the season.
Summertown @ Lawence Co- Only the Mennonites separate these two towns. Another step-up game for Summertown.
IMF @ Lipscomb-No comment needed.
Alcoa @ Ravenwood- Alcoa steps up to play a team that they should be in the same classification with.
West Tennessee
Houston @ Briarcrest- Two teams that are always competitive in a week one battle.
Waverly @ Camden- Two Tennessee River basin schools who are almost always good.
Dyer Co @ Dyersburg- No love lost between these two schools. This will be fun.
Huntingdon @ McKenzie- Two small school giants get it on.
White Station @ Christian Bros- I love it when these two lock horns. Two great programs.
MASE @ Lausanne- Up and coming MASE looks to knock off always talented Lausanne.
