2021 State Championships Are Here

The 2021 State Championship Football games come to Chattanooga for the first time ever this week. Great weather, great teams and great games are all in the forecast. In the 9 games there are 14 Mr. Football Finalists. All three geographical regions of our state are represented with 10 coming from the Midstate.

Below is a fans guide to every game with your players to watch for. If you can get down and watch these games and enjoy the great city of Chattanooga. It will be a blast.

Division l

1A- McKenzie vs South Pittsburgh- Friday 3pm

Undefeated McKenzie comes into the game favored by most people after beating top ranked Peabody last week. South Pittsburgh had games cancelled, lost their head coach, and played 6A number one Oakland during the season. Our pick: South Pittsburg in an upset.

South Pitt- RB De’Andre Kelly (Mr. Football Finalist)

2A- Hampton vs South Pittsburg- Saturday 3pm

Hampton beat a really good Trousdale team to get here but Westview has rolled through the playoffs with the closest win being by 16 points. Alabama recruit QB Ty Simpson will be too much to handle. Our Pick: Westview.

Hampton- QB Conor Jones

3A- Alcoa vs East Nashville- Friday 11am

A common question on radio talk shows around the state is, why does Alcoa continue to play in 3A and not move up to 6A where they belong? We will let you answer that. Number 17 for Mr. Rankin will come against a really good East team that deserves better. Our pick: Alcoa

East Nashville- QB Zack Beard

4A- Elizabethton vs Tullahoma- Saturday 11am

Two-time defending champs Elizabethton reached the championship game via an upset of top ranked Greeneville. Tullahoma comes into the game undefeated, having beaten their playoff opponents by an average of 30 points a game. Our Pick: Tullahoma

5A- Powell vs Page- Friday at 7pm

Powell’s demolition of Knox West in the semi finals was truly eye opening. Page’s miraculous 35-point fourth quarter last week was one for the ages. Our Pick; Powell in a close one.

6A- Summit vs Oakland- Saturday 7pm

Division II

1A- DCA vs NCS- Thursday 3pm

DCS won the first meeting of these two teams in the rain earlier in the year. NCS has had the most success the last decade. Our Pick: DCA

DCS- QB Bradford Gaines (Mr. Football Finalist); RB Ashton Jones

2A- CPA vs Lipscomb- Thursday 11am

This is a repeat of last years championship game. Lipscomb rolled in the regular season game this year. CPA wants revenge. This game will be much closer: Our Pick: Lipscomb
