Summit came out on their second drive and scored but Hendersonville answered back on their next drive with a touchdown. The game was tied up after the first quarter, but Summit wasted no time scoring on their next two possessions and went into halftime with a thirteen-point lead.
Neither team was able to score in the third quarter. This game was a dog fight until the end. Summit’s Brady Peirce scored halfway through the fourth quarter on a five-yard touchdown run. The pressure on Hendersonville to score but the Commandos came up short at home as the Spartans move on to the State Championship Game.
The shining stars of this game were the Spartans duo of the Wade Brothers, Destin and Keaton and Hendersonville’s Torin Baker. Destin Wade went 3/7 for 105 yards and one score and rushed for 122 yds for two scores while Keaton rushed for 136 yards and had 55 yards receiving yards and one touchdown. Torin Baker rushed for 174 yards and one touchdown.
Summit’s Quarterback Destin wade said,” I’m very proud of my brother he gets it done on both sides of the ball, he is a special player and gets it done on offense and defense. He’s just an all-purpose player, a generational talent and has long arms and can get separation on the defensive side and just a monster.”
Summit will travel to Chattanooga next Saturday to face Oakland for the 6A State Championship as Hendersonville’s terrific season comes to an end.
